Artistic Director Fernando Lara has been facilitating Campamentos de la Paz (peace camps) in four Indigenous communities fusing clown practice, theatre, music and visual art with Children's Peace Theatre's methodology of Conflict Transformation. Using the three C's- Courage, Compassion and Creativity, La Bufon is helping to Create a Culture of peace guiding children and youth to transform their conflicts and reclaim their Indigenous identities.
Fernando "Nano" Lara is the founder and artistic director of La Bufón SOSial. He declares that La Bufón's mission is to improve the emotional lifestyle and political awareness of girls, boys and young people through play, laughter, arts and the methodology of conflict transformation with a special emphasis on the Clown. Nano was born in Jiquilpán, Michoacán, and grew up in Guadalajara, as well as in Michoacán and the Federal District. After graduating from acting school, he began working in multidisciplinary theater companies. He has explored a wide range of authors and techniques, including Spanish and English classical theater, realism, comedy, musicals, puppets, acrobatics, stage combat, slapstick, bouffon and clown. Studied at the school of Francine Côté's Clown and Comedy School in Montreal Canada and the Nano career was inspired by the fusion of clown, theater, music and visual arts and a program called "Peace Camp" that uses "Three C's": Courage (courage), Compassion and Creativity for the transformation of conflicts, method that Nano has practiced in Torontó Canada, Mexico and Colombia: This program was developed by the Children 's Peace Theater organization and the goal is to create a Culture Peace that shows young people how to resolve social and personal conflicts, reclaim their identities and find their voice to lift it if necessary.
La Bufon also facilitates clown workshops and shows in conflict, post conflict and natural disaster zones, and offers his expertise and mentorship to Clowns in training as a revenue generator for the company.
